Singapore Rotary International Convention

Projection dome

Following the success of our 10 metre diameter projection dome at the Rotary International Convention in Melbourne, 2023, we were invited to bring the same dome to Singapore for the 2024 International Convention.

The 2 existing VR movies of Bahura and 2 Drops of Patience were featured, plus a new movie made by UNICEF showing polio vaccinations in a remote village in Benin, East Africa.

Challenge

The entire dome package including projectors, media server, cables, monitor and sound system had to be shipped from Brisbane to Singapore in advance of the conference.

Solution

We used a purpose-made timber crate which was expertly delivered directly to our site.  Local labor assisted Robbie in erecting the dome.  Osvaldo also flew into Singapore to be our on-site video technician for the duration of the 4 day event.

Setup and execution

As with the Melbourne Rotary Convention, we supplied ‘silent disco’ headsets and swivel chairs so that audience members could listen in private without the noise of busy convention.  Up to 25 people were able to view the 7 minute movies and there was a rotating schedule of the 3 different movies.  Up to 2000 people passed through the projection dome.

The new UNICEF movie shot in Benin, East Africa was superbly shot, and very popular.

The videos below are excerpts from:

“2 Drops of Patience”   Polio vaccination in a remote Ugandan village

“Bahura”    Construction of an artificial reef in the Phillipines

“UNICEF, Reaching Every Child”  Polio vaccination in Benin, East Africa.

Outcome and benefits

The projection dome at Singapore Rotary International Convention was a huge success with great praise received for the unique project movies.  We hope to be back in Calgary, Canada for 2025!
